Welcome to WIPpet Wednesday, a weekly blog hop which encourages writers to move WIPs (works-in-progress) to publication by posting excerpts related to the date. We're led by the capable fingers and nimble mind of Emily Witt.
There’s also a good chance I could be learning more about how to use my new (well, refurbished, but still new to me, and an order of magnitude smarter than my former not-quite-smart-enough pay as you go phone. It’s stuffed full of goodies, and I was able to painlessly migrate the info from my old phone, which is now my daughter’s.
Between that and a still-new computer, and the hot sauce labels that still have a few hurdles, I’ve got lots to occupy my mind...which might, just maybe, excuse this last-minute post that might not quite get to the linky by local midnight.
I’ve got a patchwork of stories, written in different styles, at different times, and for different projects – and I’m slowly figuring out how to pull them all together into a coherent whole that explores just how and why T’Pol was the one Vulcan chosen to accompany Enterprise NX-01 on her maiden voyage.
There will be hints and shadows and lots of delicious Trip and T’Pol sassiness, eventually. But first, we’ve got to lay the groundwork that gets her there, and that’s where we are right now.
T’Pol has been assigned to a temporary station aboard a human ship, despite not being qualified, because she’s the best available option.
Here’s the standard disclaimer. I don’t own them; I don’t make money from them; I just love them, and I tell the stories they give me as well as I can.
Today is April 19, 2017.
I added the digits of the day for ten sentences.
And now….on to today’s WIPpet!
“My Honor to Serve”
“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one. It is my honor to serve.” T’Pol lifted her hand, and offered him the ta’al.
If Soval had expected anything more, he said nothing of it. Instead, he returned her gesture. “Your service honors us, kindaughter.” He reached within his robe, and brought forth a personal data device. “ You are to report to Captain Archer on Enterprise at 0800 tomorrow, Terran Standard Time. You are expected for medical examination and required inoculations at 2100 hours, measured by the same chronological system, after which you will be debriefed.” He offered her the device, and T’Pol accepted it, carefully avoiding further touch.
What is on the data device?
Will there be tension between her and the human captain?
Will she find any surprises?
If you enjoyed this snippet, and want something more before next Wednesday, you can pop over to my fanfiction.net page, or go directly to Loveuary Drabbles, where you will find bite-sized, 100 word stories written to prompts.
Read one, all, or anywhere in between – these are the seeds of longer stories to come, and each one has its own tiny little twist.
