“In the Middle of Sickbay”
“Uh, you sure you want to be hugging up on me like this in the middle of Sickbay, pepperpot?”
T’Pol breathed in the scent of her mate, wondering how she had come to be in his arms. But that question had little relevance; if her memory was to be believed, Phlox had been witness to considerably more intimate contact than this.
“I have no complaint with our current connection, t’hy’la.”
“As indeed you should not. However, it might be more prudent to move to the treatment bay; there will be more privacy there.” Phlox’s voice was calm, but firm. “While this contact is no doubt beneficial for you both, you might prefer to keep it between us.”
“Doc’s right.” Trip was watching her, his concern palpable in his eyes and his scent. “You’re the Captain; and a Vulcan.”
“I am aware of both facts.” She attempted a controlled tone, but her voice emerged in a deeper voice, more suitable to their sexual explorations. Nor had she made any move to separate from her mate.
“Mmn-hmn,” Trip said, with a crooked smile that didn’t erase his worried expression. “You’re aware; but you aren’t going to let me go, either – don’t even waste the time to tell me the logical reasons. Let’s just go ahead and move to somewhere we can pull a curtain between us and anyone who’ d be willing to gossip.” He stood up again, and carried her to the alcove, settling onto a bed with her. “There. Now, do you want me to go while -”
“I do not.” Belatedly, T’Pol realized that Phlox must have called Trip, and that suggested there was some cause for concern. She’d been in the imaging chamber – yes. A scan she’d requested - “Where is Porthos?”
“He’s gone back to his bed. Perhaps, however, he would be more comfortable with you, where he might visit the Ready Room. However, at the moment, it is your condition that must be addressed, Captain.”
How will Phlox approach the diagnosis?
How will T'Pol react to the news?
Can she keep her hands to herself?
