It’s been a busy week: a mini unschooling conference took up most of Tuesday, and Thursday night, I had the pleasure of attending For The Love of Spock. The rest of the week was filled with homeschool reports – I’m finished with those until mid-December; WAHOO!!! - and writing a story every day.
You know, a happy kind of busy. And so, once again, it’s kind of last minute as I write this, so I guess I’d best get to it so that I can get it ready to post by midnight…I’ve been serialized snippets from “A Splash of Red,” my surreal fantasy story which is the child of my own life and dreams, with a generous dollop of imagery and a big dash of creative license.
We're getting close to the end, now, so things that have been mysteries will begin to come clear...or as clear as they’ll get, anyway.
More on the story after the ten-sentence snippet.
Context, such as it is...A woman is attempting to win the trust of a little girl in a red dress, while hawks wheel above. To set the stage, here’s the last line from last week’s snippet:
Far above, but drawing closer, the hawks cry out, and we shiver together in our shared fear of beaks and talons and sharp-edged pin feathers.
